Pippen Goes to the Vet

Oh, Pippen. She's been so healthy most of her life, but has had a few hiccups this year. A few months ago she had a fever, which was caused by quite a bump and infection on her neck which lead to many rounds of antibiotics and, ultimately, having to be put under and have the wound flushed and drained. Poor little Pippen! I hate to see either of my doggies sick or suffer.

A lot of scotties seem to be having some itchiness issues this fall, so when mine became itchy I didn't think too much about it. But a few days ago she chewed herself a pretty nice sized hot spot on her butt that started to ooze and just look all around icky. So we took her in to the vet just to make sure she's ok. The vet said it was most likely from a flea bite and that some dogs are very sensitive and even one bite can cause a bad reaction. Needless to say, we have vacuumed and washed bedding and both doggies got their much needed dose of Frontline!

Here's Pippen waiting anxiously for the vet to come
and see her!

Poor Pippen had to have the spot around the hot spot shaved and cleaned. She got a cortisone shot to help with the itching and has more antibiotics to take. And the WORST part of all?! When we're not home she had to wear the CONE! Sigh, poor Pippen.

  1. Oh poor Pippen! Not the cone! Momma heard from her peeps at the dog park that they make a cone out of fabric so it doesn't hurt our necks as much and we can lay down and move around better in it. Not that this helps you after the fact or anything, BOL! Hope you are feeling better!

  2. Poor Pippen. We hope she gets relief soon. Itching is terrible.....and the cone doesn't bear mentioning.

    Feel better little friend.
